You could sense the southern hospitality, as soon as you walked in the door at South Bar & Kitchen, located in Pompano’s Old Town district. Literally, throughout the evening, our table was greeted by at least 10 different people ranging from employees to managers and an owner.
Curious about the menu, we read every word and carefully selected our drinks. Everyone was in awe of the delicious sips and garnish flairs.

Who could resist the deviled egg appetizer? Literally the spicy, mixed flavors complimented the egg well. The purple egg coloring definitely made for an interesting surprise. We all scraped the plate well, because well licking the plate clean wouldn’t be appropriate.

The YOT Miso Salmon was the popular dish, chosen by our table. The miso glaze paired nicely with the side tucked nicely under the salmon. A mix of quinoa, cabbage, shiitake mushrooms, roasted red peppers, edamame, shishito peppers and ponzu vinaigrette was quite filling.

Our friend chose the spicy South Fried Chicken Sandwich, which came with sweet potato chips that were oh so light and crisp. Also on the side was pickled okra, a southern favorite for sure, that I may have snatched off his plate.

Up next, South Bar & Kitchen will offer southern bites & bourbon flights happy hour, during the week from 4-7 P.M. Live music will be on the deck outside under the Ficus tree every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 5-9 P.M.
Prepared for the weather, the deck features cooling misters and heaters to keep comfort at a max while enjoying the outdoor entertainment.
At the last Old Town Untapped, we were able to check out the Container bar, on the deck, called Cabooze (get it – booze). It features delicious specialty drinks; you are sure to love.
